This is a very recent true story. In fact, every story posted on Global Woman is a real life story…an experience from a life of a real woman in this factual world…..But for this story I am changing the names to maintain privacy. When you read …you will be able to understand why I am doing this…
Last year in December 2008, I received an email for a guy named John. He had inquired about a life story of Marian in our site. He knew this lady in the story and his son few years back but he was making sure that she is the same one. At first I was a bit hesitated to reply him back but the facts he wrote in the email were so compelling. Marian is elderly woman, who lives by her self, her children have moved away and she is not into the technological world of internet and emails.
The email stated that John met Marian’s son on a road to his way on office. (John lives in different place than where Marian lives). He used to work for John few years ago in his company. But this time when he saw this young boy it was shocking to him. He was in shattered clothes, untidy hair; duct taped on the feet instead of slippers and had some blankets over him….. he was on streets. This was very disturbing to read. John reminded him some things, gave him some money and asked him to again come back and see him.
Marian was not in touch with his son for few months. He would occasionally call him at times and leave a message. She had some idea of her son not having a proper job and a home but this was a shock. Surprising (to me) was, few years before her son had taken Marian to his office where he worked for John and Marian vividly recalls meeting John and some other colleagues. Marian and John talked over phone and worked out few details.
The story was unfortunately true, exact and real…..The only one bright side I see here is that some person who saw Marian’s life story could contact us and let her know about some core issues in his son’s life.
I was very happy to see our site working for a noble cause. In fact I was thrilled and am hoping in the future we all come together deal with some real woman issues of today.
